SWWJ AGM and Autumn Meeting

Lovely day yesterday at The Liberal Club in London. The winner of the Elizabeth Longford poetry competition was awarded the trophy by Ross Kightly after which we had a talk by Katy Guest literary editor of the Independent on Sunday. All followed by the most scrumptious tea in lovely surroundings.

Had a good day in London yesterday at The Oldie Lunch. Speakers were William Shawcross, Phyllida Law and Rupert Everett, all very entertaining and very different. Food was good too as was the venue Simpson's.

Hay Festival

Just back from a fabulous weekend at Hay. Wall to wall sunshine which they say was a first for four years. Took part in Mariella's book show due to be shown on Sky TV on 6 June. You'll probably see the back of my head. Two pictures showing how seriously hard I networked.

Lovely meeting last night in a fabulous setting. Scrummy canapes and fizz and a talk by Peter James. It doesn't get much better than that.

Records Office

Had a brilliant day at the Chichester Records office yesterday. Say Henry VIII's documents and seal and wedding films of the twenties, then more modern technology which is changing so quickly the film processing people can't keep up with it.

Lady Lunch

Had a lovely day yesterday at The Lady lunch at the impressive Guards and Cavalry Club. The speakers were Victoria Lamb, Deborah Moggah and Henry Hitchings. Very good company at the tables. Champagne reception, excellent meal too with wine. Came home and went to the ballet - Copelia. Back to work today.

E books

At last I've bitten the bullet and downloaded two of my early pocket novels to KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing). I'll see how it goes. They should be viewable within 24-48 hours. The Mimosa Summer and The Morelli Vineyard are the titles. I'll blog when I go 'global'.

SWWJ Southern Regional Meeting

Had a good SWWJ Southern Regional Meeting yesterday in Chichester. Thought earlier in the week the snow would disrupt things but luckily it didn't. Good speaker and nice to catch up with everybody.

Book Lovers Supper Club

Had a lovely time in Ditchling last night once I found the venue. It was very dark and the barn was in the middle of a field, after you'd gone through the churchyard - very creepy. The speakers were Lesley Pearse and Susanna Quinn, both extremely entertaining. What with a quiche and salad supper, sticky chocolate ganache, wine and a potent liqueur I was extremely refreshed when the evening finished.

Lady Tea

Also went to The Lady afternoon tea with Barbara Taylor Bradford yesterday - quite a social day. Had a lovely time, Champagne, sandwiches and cream cakes and the incomparable Barbara. What's not to like?

RONA Awards

 

 

Got back last night from the Romantic Novelists' awards, hosted by Richard and Judy after train problems - absolutely exhausted. Had a lovely time as you can see from my happy photo. Congratulations to all the worthy winners.
